Ways to feel better

We all need help from other people with our feelings and problems. But there are some things we can do to help ourselves stay feeling healthy and happy.

They can be things like feeling safe and looked after, getting enough sleep and eating healthily, but also:

  • Getting enough exercise like running or swimming
  • Spending time with a pet
  • Having someone you are close to who you can talk to
  • Having good friends who are helpful and look out for you

Being able to say what you think and have people listen to you is also important. It is part of getting good attention from other people like family, teachers and friends.

Other stuff like learning new things, improving things you are good at already and having people recognise those things will help you stay healthy and happy as well. They help you keep a positive view of the world which is important.

We don’t always get all of these things met all of the time, but it is important to get as many as you can.

If you are worried, cross or sad then talk to someone you trust. You can also call Childline free on 0800 1111 to get help.
