It’s not just children who go back to school this week, teachers and educational professionals are also back to school after the school summer holidays.

One resource here at YoungMinds that might be useful to teachers and other educational professionals is our YoungMinds in Schools project.

The project aims to improve outcomes for children and young people with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties by providing consultancy and training to staff and parents.

A short promotional video about the school will be out next week so visit the website next week for more details.

YoungMinds has received two years' funding from the Department for Education through its Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) programme for the YoungMinds in Schools project. We will initially be working through four local clusters, each with its own steering group.

During 2012, we are piloting a programme of training and consultancy to four clusters of schools in England (Tottenham in north London, Southwark in south London, Burgess Hill in Sussex and Weston-super-Mare in Somerset). Each school cluster consists of one secondary and three primary schools.

The training and consultancy provided by YoungMinds in Schools includes working with parents, whole school emotional wellbeing, therapeutic storywriting and mindfulness. There are videos about the four areas of work on our website.

To find out more about the project or if you are interested in purchasing our pilot training and consultancy programme, contact Roger Catchpole, training and development manager roger.catchpole@youngminds.org.uk or on 020 7089 5050.
