YoungMinds Fundraising Round-Up
In this week’s round-up blog, we congratulate and thank some of our brilliant fundraisers, shining a light on how they been supporting the work of YoungMinds.
We are so proud of and grateful for the incredible work our fundraisers do to help raise vital funds and awareness around child and young people’s mental health. We couldn’t do it without you.
Emma & Ciara
Super fundraisers Emma & Ciara have decided to dedicate 2017 to raising funds for YoungMinds. They will be doing various events throughout the year, Emma had this to say about their challenge:
As a sufferer with mental illness I know how important getting help and receiving support is. It is horrible and steals your life but YoungMinds help you to get your life back. YoungMinds helps young people through the worst of times and helps them find ways of coping. They improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
"Mental illness brings struggles in everyday life and brings many challenges, it is vital charities like YoungMinds can continue to carry out their work supporting young people. With all of the pressure on young people today so many teenagers struggle with mental illness meaning there is high demand for support.”
Everyone at YoungMinds would like to wish a massive thank you to Emma and Ciara for their amazing achievement. You too, can say thank you to them via their Just Giving page.
Carla Cummings, Caitlin Moor and Co
Carla, Caitlin and Co organised a phenomenal Australian themed fundraising Quiz Night and raised over £1,500 for YoungMinds after match-funding.
“Every January, six Australians come together to host an Australian themed trivia fundraiser night…We are all close to people who have struggled with their mental health growing up and have been frustrated by the lack of information and education in schools and the community alike which has resulted in more pressure on those affected."
We were impressed to see all the good work YoungMinds is contributing to mental health awareness with the particular focus on children and adolescence, and as such we were proud to nominate YoungMinds as one of our charities for 2017."
Sally ran the Chichester 10K in just under 1 hour for us and raised over £250 pounds.
Thank you so much Sally for running and fundraising for our charity. You too, can say thank you to her via her Just Giving page.
West Bridgford School
West Bridgford School has been an inspiring support and fundraiser of YoungMinds this academic year. They have hosted their own non-uniform day, cake sale, raffle and many other events, raising an incredible £2,100 for YoungMinds. On top of this, teachers Dr Hume and Mrs Bradbury are running the Manchester Marathon for us.
Asked why they chose to support YoungMinds, the school told us:
“Shocked by statistics on mental health in children, a group of year 10 students together with their science teacher Dr Hume decided that more young people needed to know about the mental health services available to them and they also wanted to help lift the stigma attached to mental health…
"When presented to school council there was an overwhelming sense of the importance of mental health and wellbeing and what YoungMinds could do for the students at our school, Year 10 won their bid hands down.
The loveliest part of our fundraising day was that the message got out there. A dedicated fundraising team really rallied together to promote the message that 'it's ok to talk about mental health and that help is out there'.
"Our mission was to raise funds for YoungMinds and to make sure our students knew where to access help. The fundraising day really helped start the ball rolling in a fun and interactive way. We will continue to support our students and hopefully make sure they all smile”
Our huge thanks go to everyone at West Bridgford School who contributed to such amazing fundraising efforts.
A massive thank you to all of our brilliant fundraisers.
