YoungMinds receives funding for Parents' Helpline
YoungMinds is one of eleven family organisations who will receive Government funding to deliver national online and telephone support services, Children’s Minister Sarah Teather has announced.
The Government is providing funding to eleven voluntary and community organisations including Netmums, Relate and Gingerbread. Specialist organisations including the Family Rights Group, Contact a Family and the YoungMinds Parents' Helpline are among those benefiting from the funding.
Daphne Joseph, Parents’ Helpline Manager, said: “Helping parents to understand their child’s behaviour and enabling them to secure the right professional help for their child is crucial. Our Parents’ Helpline is a lifeline for the children and parents who suffer in isolation and are confused about what help is available.
“Thanks to the Department of Education, we can continue to provide the telephone helpline service free of charge from landlines and mobiles, and we have the opportunity to expand our service online, with support available by email or through live web chats.”
Children’s Minister Sarah Teather said: “All parents need help and advice at some point to deal with the normal challenges of everyday family life. And some parents need more intensive support for the particular challenges they face. The organisations we are funding have a proven track record in supporting families and are trusted by parents. We know thousands of families want and use their services.
“It’s the Government’s job to support mothers and fathers to be the best parents they can be, without interfering in family life. Online and telephone support will give them the help they need, when they need it, and in a way that works best for them.”
