Medical records

If I go to the GP, will it be on my child’s records?

Talking to the GP can help you feel reassured. Your GP can give you guidance on where to get help for your child. Usually he/she will make a record of the appointment.

Confidential records are a way of protecting your child and making sure they are getting the right kind of help. Your GP should explain this to you.

Your medical records are confidential by law and can only be accessed by you, your GP or a third party if you give permission.

You always have to give permission for information from your medical records to be passed to a third party

Ultimately if something is impacting on your child’s emotional health it is important to get help.
