SSRI s and routine specialist,care with and without CBT in adolescents with major depression

Paper based on a randomised controlled trial which looked at whether selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) alone are more or less effective than a combination of SSRIs and cognitive behavioral therapy in young people with major depression. The young people were recruited from services and were a ‘considerably impaired and suicidal’ group who would have been excluded from other trials. By the end of 28 weeks, they found that there was no difference in outcomes for either group.
