Child and adolescent mental health: an introduction

A one day course facilitated by YoungMinds taking place on 10th and 11th July in North and South Wales

Course aims

YoungMinds believes passionately that childrens mental health is everybodys business and that bringing together a range of perspectives can help us in understanding what enables children to achieve better outcomes.

This course builds on the core principals of the NSF in Wales to deepen understanding of children and young peoples mental health and increase confidence, competence and capacity in this important area of childrens services.

It will look at promoting mental health, the identification of children at risk of mental health problems, early intervention and supporting children and young people with less severe and complex problems.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Describe the role that they can play in promoting mental health
  • Identify children and young people experiencing, or at risk of, mental health problems
  • Intervene early to support children and young people and/or their families

Who should attend?

Everyone who works with babies, children, young people, parents or carers who want to work with others to achieve better outcomes for children.

There are 24 places available in South Wales and 25 places in North Wales.

Facilitators

This course will be facilitated by Roger Catchpole, Prinicipal Consultant and Jasbinda Rooprah Senior Consultant from YoungMinds.

YoungMinds is the UKs only national charity committed to improving the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.

It has more than twenty years of experience of training frontline staff and is the leading provider of specialist training on childrens mental health and well being.
