Major gifts are a lifeline for children and young people suffering from mental health problems.

Distressed Young Girl with Consoling Mother 448x28875% of enduring mental health problems begin by the age of 18; 1 in every 12 young people self-harms. Those are facts.

Another is that children’s mental health is only allocated 0.6% of the NHS budget - despite evidence showing that early intervention diminishes the long term impact of mental illness in terms of severity, endurance and physical health problems.

YoungMinds is a unique charity making a massive difference. You can help us do even more.

"I used the [YoungMinds] Parents Helpline 9 years ago and have never forgotten the kind voice during my darkest time.  My daughter is now happily married with a career and children due in no small part to the help and support I received on that night" - Mum, 46

Our Parents Helpline helps 10,000 parents a year worried about and very often distressed by the mental health of their child. 1 in 3 parents call the Helpline a lifesaver.

"Thank you, because if it wasn’t for YoungMinds I wouldn’t be the person I am today.  But most importantly I wouldn’t even be here today!  You have given me a second chance at life and I am so thankful for it!" – Jack, age 17

1.5 million people use our online help and advice every year – someone new every 20 seconds.

5,000 young people with experience of mental health problems work with us to make things better for their peers, and improve how mental health is treated in the press.

Things are changing. Things are getting better.  With your help we can change things faster; we can make things much, much better. Today.

We would work with you to determine your funding interests but here are just a few examples:

Help major donors

  • £1,000 – Every twenty seconds someone seeks our help online – your donation will make sure they find that help
  • £5,000 – Could ensure young people are supported to improve how UK mental health services are designed and delivered
  • £10,000 – Could help raise public awareness of self-harm and help people to respond to it
  • £30,000 – Could support 1,000 families though our Parents Helpline

We are a national charity but not a wealthy one. As such, a major gift wouldn't be a drop in the ocean. Not to us. Instead, it would go miles.  And, frankly, it would be courageous: not just anyone supports children and young people’s mental health.

We'll keep you up to date with reports as often or as little as you like and you will always be welcome to our offices to meet with us or even to volunteer.
