Remember us in your Will
Leaving YoungMinds a gift in your Will is a special way to make a lasting impact. It will ensure that we can continue to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people for many years to come.
Why We Need Your Help
Children and young people with good mental health do better in every way. They are happier in their families, do better at school, and enjoy friendships and new experiences.
Your lasting legacy will help us to plan for the future. We will have the confidence to ensure that our work with children, young people, adults, professionals and other organisations is able to continue.
Statistics show that around 850,000 children and young people in the UK are affected by mental health and emotional problems – that’s three children in every classroom, but there’s more:
- In some parts of the country, more than 10% of children seeking help are having appointments with specialists cancelled as a result of staff shortages.
- 1 in 12 children and young people are said to self-harm.
- The number of hospital admissions across the UK for teenagers with eating disorders has nearly doubled in the last three years.
- More than half of all adults with mental health problems were diagnosed in childhood. Fewer than half of them were treated appropriately at the time.
"Children’s mental health services are massively under-resourced and parents need someone to turn to; to help when they don't know what to do, to help their kids when they see them suffering – you provide that for them." - YoungMinds Donor
Why your gift is valuable
Katie, a YoungMinds activist from Leeds, is just one of the young people who has benefited from our charity, she said:
"Working with YoungMinds really helped with my recovery as I was with people who understood what it felt like, and didn’t judge me if I was ill, or feeling a bit rubbish some days. I’ve made some lovely friends whilst doing something I enjoyed, and I can’t wait to use what I’ve learnt from YoungMinds to help in my future career as a Mental Health Nurse!"
There is still so much work for us to do, but with your help we can create a better future for young people, like Katie, and their families.
