YoungMinds in Schools
YoungMinds in Schools is supporting whole school emotional wellbeing to improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
Research shows that emotions play an important role in a person’s ability to learn. The YoungMinds in Schools project has been designed to support educational professionals’ understanding of the link between emotional wellbeing and learning.
The project aims to improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of the whole school community, adults and children, as well as addressing the specific needs of pupils identified as having behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESDs).
The YoungMinds in Schools project offers:
- Training courses for all educational professionals in the field of emotional wellbeing and mental health
- Free online learning resources to support emotional wellbeing and mental health in schools
- A pilot project offering free training and consultancy to 16 schools (4 clusters) in England.
We are currently developing the following training courses, which will be available to book through the YoungMinds training calendar soon, and will run from March 2012:
- Developing whole school emotional wellbeing
- Psychological perspectives on behaviour
- Supporting transitions
- Risk and resilience in schools
- Neuroscience, attachment and learning
- Setting Up Therapeutic Storywriting Groups
- Story Links: working with parents of vulnerable pupils
YoungMinds is grateful to have received two years' funding from the Department for Education (DfE) through its Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) programme for the YoungMinds in Schools project.
