About this role

A Black teenage boy wearing a hearing aid speaking to a white non-binary teenager. They are walking on the street outside a shop. Both people are smiling.

As a Fundraising Officer in the public fundraising team, you will play a vital role in generating income from individuals, community groups and schools. You will engage supporters through innovative acquisition and stewardship campaigns with a particular focus on delivering our key campaigns — including 60 Miles in June and Hello Yellow.

Reporting to the Individual Giving & Campaigns Manager, you will need a strong understanding of donor acquisition, engagement and stewardship. You’ll focus on recruiting new donors, growing average donation values and improving retention, while ensuring supporters receive an outstanding experience and feel proud of their contribution to YoungMinds’ mission.

  • Campaign Delivery: Lead on key fundraising campaigns including 60 Miles in June and Hello Yellow, coordinating activities across multiple audiences to drive income and awareness.
  • Supporter Stewardship: Serve as the first point of contact for YoungMinds supporters, delivering excellent donor care by phone, email, in writing and in person, while developing and managing stewardship plans to build loyalty and maximise fundraising potential.
  • Income & Data Management: Monitor and report on fundraising activity and income using the organisation’s CRM system and third-party fundraising platforms, ensuring all supporter data is captured and managed in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Audience Insight & Growth: Utilise supporter insights and the YoungMinds case for support to shape cause-led fundraising activities that build meaningful relationships and attract new audiences to the charity.

About you

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the following essential criteria to a satisfactory level:

  • Fundraising Experience: Experience of donor recruitment and retention through mass fundraising and/or general supporter fundraising activities, with a track record of engaging individuals and community groups.
  • Data & CRM Skills: Experience using databases for effective fundraising or donor journey development, with the ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data to drive fundraising performance.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage project plans, meet deadlines and targets, and work flexibly and creatively to problem solve across multiple concurrent activities.
  • Communication & Compliance: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate donors, alongside an understanding of UK fundraising compliance, GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
