We are currently working with a hybrid working model, where there is the option of working from home combined with 4-12 days a month of working in the office.

About this role

YoungMinds are a leading national charity committed to improving children and young people’s health and emotional wellbeing. We want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health, and all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it.

Every month, the YoungMinds website provides thousands of young people with vital support and advice for their mental health. We’re looking for a Senior Digital Content Designer to play a key role in leading the design and delivery of the content on our website.

You will lead in delivering content for the Never Alone programme, which seeks to provide support for young people on a range of feelings, life experiences, conditions and mental health medications. Along with the digital communications team and the Digital Content Officers you line manage, you will design or commission content in various mediums such as written content, illustrations, graphics, video and audio.

You will conduct user research and insight sessions with young people to design the website content strategy, ensuring the content on our website meets young people’s needs and covers relevant topics and experiences.

You will also be responsible for the YoungMinds blog, ensuring the blog continues to be a valuable space of real stories and support with content that showcases a variety of experiences and backgrounds. As part of this, you will lead on our Writers Programme, where you will recruit young people from minoritised groups and run a year-long programme of workshops to help develop them as writers and editors.

Using your digital expertise and strategic thinking, you will work with colleagues across YoungMinds to create content for the website that helps support their team’s aims and objectives. This will include our content for young people and professionals as part of our Someone To Turn To programme, as well as content for our Powerful Young Voices programme. You will also work closely with the Product Manager for the website to deliver the website roadmap and strategy, and ensure the website is meeting it’s aims and goals as a digital product.

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience of designing, developing and building website content that meets user needs and is in line with our brand’s tone of voice
  • have experience of using user insight to inform and develop digital content
  • be able to upload content to a CMS (content management system) and create engaging webpages with good user experience that are search engine optimised
  • be able to create digital content for minoritised and racialised groups of young people and practise cultural humility
  • be able to conduct user insight sessions with key stakeholders and users, to listen to their experiences and identify their needs
  • be able to line manage members of staff to support their wellbeing and development
