Hello Yellow fundraiser Westgate Primary School

Hello Yellow at Westgate Primary School

Why did you take part?

Mental health and wellbeing are our number one priorities at Westgate. We know that happy and healthy minds help us to learn and do our best!

How did you celebrate?

We dressed up in our yellow clothes for the day. We also took time out to tell jokes, and we had a challenge of giving at least one person a compliment. In the afternoon, we tried yoga and mindfulness in our classrooms too.

Tell us about your school

We are a one-form-entry school within the Cygnus Academy. As we are a small school, we pride ourselves on our friendly community, and we all get to know each other. We call ourselves The Westgate Family!

We offer time and space for children and adults to talk if they need to, including a lunchtime club where children can come and share their worries or questions with familiar adults in school.

We love to aim for the stars and try our best in all we do, with support along the way to get there.

Why is mental health important to your school?

We know that happy and healthy minds help us to learn and do our best.

We call ourselves The Westgate Family because we know that we need to look out for one another.

We encourage the children and adults to talk about their feelings and to know that it’s okay not to feel okay, but that we are all here to help each other, and it’s good to talk!

What three words describe you best?
