Youth Panellist She/Her Emily Em-uh-lee
Emily is part of our Youth Panel and wants to use her experience in the charity sector to support our work and help more young people who are struggling with their mental health. Find out more about Emily.
I’ve spent my marketing career in the charity and social impact sector, campaigning for change, from youth empowerment to homelessness and refugees, and more recently social work.
I’m really passionate about youth empowerment and mental health so I’m thrilled to share my professional and personal experiences to help the Directors and Board of Trustees make the best decisions to achieve YoungMinds' mission.
The value I relate the most to is: 'we’re not afraid to speak up for what’s right.'.
Young people are growing up in an increasingly pressurising society, facing more challenges than ever before, yet most don’t have the voice or the platform to speak up for things that will affect their futures, because they’re too young to vote or ‘too young to know better’. From young people’s rights to mental health, YoungMinds knows what needs to change because young people tell them. If they raise their voices, so does YoungMinds.

I love spending time with my Labrador, watching Disney for comfort, and baking NYC cookies. (Watch out, Great British Bake Off!)
Our Youth Panel works with us for three years to help shape our future as a charity and achieve our mission. They talk about things like strategy, safeguarding, fundraising, organisational culture, risk management, data protection, brand and marketing.
Our current Youth Panel joined us in October 2023.
