Alice's fundraising journey

Why are you fundraising for us?

For years, running has done amazing things for my mental health. I wanted to take this a step further by running to support other people’s mental health too. I am a medical student, just months away from joining an NHS which is not able to provide support quickly and effectively enough for young people struggling with their mental health when they need it.

I hope my challenge will raise both money and awareness for the overwhelming number of young people struggling with mental illness, particularly following the COVID-19 lockdowns, and the need to improve funding and infrastructure in the health system that supports them.

What will you be doing?

Over my last two years at medical school, and into my first job as a junior doctor, I will be running a half marathon (13.1 miles) in every city in England. There are 55 cities, meaning I will be running over 1,100km (around 720 miles) for this cause.

At the time of writing (November 2022), I have completed a half marathon in 21 cities, and have 34 cities left to complete. I hope to finish the challenge in London in autumn 2023.

Please donate if you can. Thank you!
